City Council to discuss variety of issues at upcoming meeting

By M.A. Ferguson-Rich/Ohio.com correspondent Published: October 3, 2012

City council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m on Wednesday at Town Hall.  Matters from the September 18 agenda have been carried over, as that meeting was canceled due to lack of a quorum,

Added to this agenda is a proposed ordinance to increase the base compensation of City Manager Anthony Bales.

Bales has been in that position since July 2006, and his contract provides for yearly salary reviews.

Council has reviewed both the performance of the city manager and his salary, and has increased his base compensation to $122,000 from $117,532.01

Collection Auto Group's request for rezoning of the former Clarke Ford property is back on the agenda, as the request continues through the process required under Hudson law.

Also on the agenda is a resolution to enter into a contract with Aaron Landscaping.  The agreement would run for two years, beginning December 2012, at a cost of $207,000 per year for the services.

Council will consider a resolution allowing the city manager to become involved in several federal road construction projects scheduled by the Ohio Department of Transportation on Route 91.

Council will also be asked at the meeting to approve an agreement enabling it to receive funds under the Moving Ohio Forward Demolition Program.

Other items include a contract with Signal Service Co. for maintenance and repair of traffic signal equipment; a contract with Univar Co. for winter road salt, and adoption of a revised strategic plan for the city.
