Hudson City Council authorizes new contract with police

HUDSON: City Council approved a collective bargaining agreement with representatives of the Ohio  Patrolmen's  Benevolent  Association, the union representing its police officers, at a meeting last week.

The agreement covers calendar years 2013 and 2014.

Jody Roberts, communications manager for the city, says that the only significant variation from prior agreements is the inclusion of a 1.5 percent cost-of-living increase for each of the next two years.

The increase will bring the police contract in line with that of the other two unions representing city workers.

The starting salary for a police officer in Hudson is currently $21.55 per hour.

The department currently employs 23 police officers and 15 others in support positions.
