Hudson City Council held an executive session Monday to interview candidates to fill the position of John Jeffers, who resigned Dec. 11.

Candidates will be interviewed in a closed session from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. City Communications Manager Jody Roberts said there are four applicants -- Ryan Beam, Rafael McLaughlin, Dean Rolland and Keith Smith.

Jeffers’ replacement will serve Ward 4 for the remaining of the year and will have to seek election for a full term next November.

On Tuesday, City Council members will meet from 7:15 to 7:30 p.m. before the regularly scheduled council workshop to announce the successful applicant.

The council workshop will review a presentation by the Hudson Police Department. It will discuss an overview of the department with updates on major initiatives.

Council will also discuss an ordinance amending the city’s pay raise structure for non-bargaining unit employees.
