HUDSON: City Council unanimously voted against allowing Hudson residents Kate Harmon and Jeffrey Etters to place a fence in the front of their home during its meeting on Wednesday.
The couple resides on Hudson Street in a home that Harmon described as being located next to the street.
She said that they own several small dogs and need the fence to keep them safe from street traffic.
Council member William Wooldredge said that he was sympathetic to the issue of pet safety, but had received negative comments about the proposed fence from four neighbors. He urged Harmon and Etters to talk to the neighbors in order to come up with a solution other than the currently proposed fence.
Council President David Basil said he was also sympathetic to the pet issue, but added that he could see the location of the proposed fence would be "an issue for city workers to deal with" whenever they needed to perform work in the area.
