HUDSON: Keith W. Smith was sworn in as the representative of Ward 4 on Hudson City Council at Wednesday's meeting. He will serve for the remainder of 2013, and the seat will come up for election on November's ballot.

Smith has worked in the city since 2005. He has resided in the city since 2007, and he and his wife Anne Marie are expecting their first child. They are both employed by the Western Reserve Group at Morgan Stanley.

Smith is replacing John Jeffers who retired in December. Jeffers was thanked by a resolution passed during the meeting. Jeffers served on City Council since August of 2003, and received accolades from several council members, and Mayor Currin, who stated that Jeffers "was strong when he needed to be, soft when he needed to be," and his "opinions were well thought out."

Jeffers said that Hudson is wonderful because of its many volunteers. He said although he is originally from New York, he intends to remain in the community for life.
