Hudson Chief Robert Carter announced on Monday he will retire effective May 15.
“It has been my privilege to work with the many dedicated members in the Hudson Fire Department,” Carter said in a news release. “It also has been an honor work with the many Hudson organizations, particularly the Hudson Schools.”
Carter has been the city’s first full-time fire chief since July 2000.
He was also involved with Leadership Hudson, the Summit County Emergency Management Agency and the County Fire Chiefs Association.
“Bob has made a tremendous impact during his time in Hudson,” said City Manager Anthony J. Bales in the release. “His leadership both inside the Hudson Fire Department and outside in the community has been exemplary.”
According to Hudson officials, Bales will appoint an interim fire chief next week.
