Hudson Mayor William Currin officially welcomed new specialty shop, Olive My Heart, to the city during Wednesday morning’s ribbon cutting ceremony.
Founder Linda Coleman along with husband, Ron, treaded guests to a tour of the new location along with a tasting of the merchandise.
Linda Coleman explained the many benefits of extra virgin olive oils, “High quality oils will have a peppery finish, if you aren’t getting that, you are not getting high quality or not getting extra virgin,” she said.
After her explanation of many health benefits, Currin said he was happy to participate.
“I would love to try the one with the highest polyphenol content, my cholesterol is at a good number, but I would like to keep it that way. Exercise isn’t always enough,” Currin said as the tasting began.
He chose to sample the healthiest, Picual Extra Virgin Olive Oil, of Chile. With a polyphenol count of 660, this is a robust extra virgin olive oil from the southern hemisphere.
“That is really very nice,” he said, as he tasted the oil.
Coleman engaged each guest in the experience, a trip around the world via gourmet oils. Inside of the tasting rooms, she offered samples of the gourmet extra virgin olive oils, aged balsamic vinegars, and specialty blends.
Olive My Heart currently offers eight extra virgin olive oils from the Northern Hemisphere; California, Italy and Spain, along with three from the Southern Hemisphere; Australia, Argentina, and Chile.
After the tasting, Currin along with Linda and Ron Coleman and several guests headed outside for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
“The City of Hudson is pleased to welcome Olive My Heart. We are very happy to have Linda Coleman and her husband Ron,” Currin said. “This not only brings excitement to Hudson, but offers the chance at a healthier Hudson.”
Olive My Heart offers rooms to hold special events and tastings, ideal for groups of 12-20 people.
